An asshole dentist changes his name to avoid Kramer and moves from New York to the suburbs (somewhere - California?) and starts a family. In said family is a boy genius, who the family struggle to put through college. The monetary strife causes Hal and Lois to break up. Hal says he’ll find the money somehow.
Hal changes his name again, remarries, contracts cancer and starts cooking meth to raise funds.
It’s all coming together.
